Beginnings is a photographic project that aims to normalize and elevate motherhood and the diverse experiences of women who become mothers

We know very little about our earliest stage in life, when we are babies. What happens when we leave our mother's body? What are our needs, both physiological and emotional? What are the needs of our mother?

Like many other aspects of women's existence, motherhood has been constantly violated and misunderstood throughout human history, resulting in devastating consequences for endless women and babies to this day. Even if we've come this far, we have so much left to learn about the mysteries of pregnancy, birth, and motherhood.

We can still make changes to make it easier for mothers and babies to thrive in a loving and safe environment. We cannot forget that our little ones will one day be adults, and what they become will result from how we've treated them.

Beginnings is the result of my passion for babies, mums, and photography.

Documenting stories of motherhood and growing this project takes me to places I never thought I would go. It's making me learn and see the world and myself with new eyes, making me realize how little I know.

My favorite thing that this project is doing to me is making me more tolerant, as I am exposed to different human experiences and develop my ability to empathize with the person I am photographing or speaking with.
