FAQs

What is birth photography, and why should I hire you to capture the birth of my baby?

Birth photography focuses on documenting and capturing the details of the moments that lead to the birth of a child in photo and/or in video. As a birth photographer, I would be present at the birthing location, ready to document the process as it unfolds, making sure you'll be able to revisit it time and again for years to come.

With my camera, I am able to capture the small and meaningful details that might otherwise go unnoticed, such as the first breath of your baby, and your and your partner's emotions as you welcome your baby into the world.

Having me in the room means both you and your partner can be fully present in the moment without worrying about capturing it yourselves.

As a certified birth photographer, I have the training, skills, and experience required to work in a birthing room's challenging and dynamic environment. I know how to work with changing lighting conditions and can capture artistic and well-composed images that will later become your precious memories.

For you as a woman, these photos can be empowering. Seeing the strength, determination, and courage you had during labor and birth can boost your confidence and self-esteem. These images will become a reminder of your ability to overcome challenges.

How can the photographic report of my birth benefit my child growing up?

Seeing their birth in photographs or video can help your child develop a stronger sense of identity and connection to their origin story. It can help them understand and appreciate your journey to bring them into the world. It can help them connect to the strength, determination, and love you had for them during birth and when they first made it earth-side.

It can instill a sense of empowerment, resilience, and self-esteem as they grow up knowing they were born into a loving and supportive environment.

As children grow and start to ask questions about where they came from, their birth story can become an educational tool. It can help you explain the biology of childbirth and the miraculous nature of the beginning of life. They can also help you create a narrative that you can explore and discuss together, creating a safe space for conversations about emotions and family dynamics.

Just like any other important life event, having visual memories will allow your child to revisit and reflect on this moment whenever they choose. They can become a strong source of comfort and connection.

How is the price of a birth report justified?

Birth is a unique experience that cannot be replicated. Creating a photographic and video report of your child’s birth preserves the rawness, connections, and emotions of such an important event for you to cherish for life. These photos freeze moments that would otherwise be missed, lost, or totally forgotten in the emotional whirlwind of birth.

Unlike other types of photography sessions, creating a birth report can be a lengthy process that involves being on-call for an extended period around the due date. This commitment can go from days to weeks, during which I, as the photographer, must be ready to respond and be present at any time, day or night.

As a birth photographer, I’ve trained and continue to train to maintain the skill set that allows me to create beautiful memories for your family under high-pressure and unpredictable environments and conditions. I need to be ready to handle often changing and bad light conditions while capturing intimate moments discreetly and efficiently.

Besides the details described above (and some other technical and boring stuff), by creating a birth report of your baby’s birth day, I am offering you a unique and emotionally significant experience and body of memories whose value will increase with time. The images captured during your birth are priceless and will always provide a tangible way to connect and remember your birth.

Where can I find your prices listed?

You can find a description of what each type of session entails and their prices under Services > name of session (Pregnancy, Birth Report, Maternity).

Are you as a photographer allowed in the hospital room?

In my experience, having me at the hospital has never been a problem since the medical team understands your desire to create good quality memories of such an important event.

However, you need to ask for it and take it into conversation with the medical team at the hospital in advance. They will ask me not to take photos of them, and I will, of course, respect that ☺️
